Church at the Cross Leadership
Our mission is to lead Church at the Cross in living out our call to love God and people. We serve to provide a place where the Word of God is rooted in our hearts, prayer is constant, and every individual is empowered to follow Jesus in their daily lives.
Biblical Integrity: We are a community rooted in the Word of God and committed to practical Bible teaching that transforms lives.
Devoted Prayer: We believe in the power of constant prayer as the foundation for everything we do.
Heartfelt Worship: We strive to create an atmosphere where every person can authentically encounter and love God.
Relational Discipleship: We don't just attend church; we grow together. We value walking alongside one another as we follow Jesus.
Genuine Belonging: Because we love people, we are dedicated to ensuring there is a place for everyone here.
Barry and Shaun Higgs
As a co-founder of Church at the Cross, Barry has been a cornerstone of our community since 2015. Driven by a vision for a gospel-centered home for all believers, he transitioned into the role of Senior Pastor in 2021. Under his leadership, our church has experienced a season of vibrant growth, rooted deeply in sound biblical teaching and a culture of authentic worship.
Barry’s heart for ministry is mirrored in his personal life. He and his wife, Shaun, have shared 35 years of marriage—a journey that serves as a beautiful testimony to God’s faithfulness. Together, they are passionate about mentoring families, strengthening marriages, and investing in the next generation. They are the proud parents of their son, Ryan, and dote on their granddaughter, Skyla.
When he isn’t in the pulpit or visiting with the congregation, you’ll likely find Barry enjoying a quiet afternoon of fishing, competing in a friendly game of corn-hole, or hitting the lanes at the bowling alley.
Tony Williams
A lifelong Citrus County native, Tony was born in 1958 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. While his journey began there, he was raised and attended school in Crystal River, where he truly grew his roots. Tony’s life was forever changed in 1983 when he accepted Christ—a decision that has served as his compass for over forty years.
In 1986, Tony married Kimberly Robertson, and together they spent over three decades raising their family in the faith. Tony is the devoted father of their two daughters and finds immense joy today in his role as a grandfather to four.
Tony’s path to leadership at Church at the Cross began in 2010 when he joined Calvary Baptist Church. He stepped into the role of Deacon in 2013 and remained a steadfast, grounding presence for the congregation through the 2019 merger. When he isn’t serving the church, you’ll find him hiking local trails or cheering on his "Big Five": Jesus, family, friends, his dog Bailey, and his beloved Florida Gators.
